Prep Hammer

For the first time ever, we have a tie for our latest Hammer.  Two wrestlers had unbelievable days at the same brutal tournament.

Our first Hammer competes for the Hudson Tigers and he is Royce Beal.   The outstanding freshman entered the tournament ranked 3rd in D4 and was seeded 6th at the Super 16.  The 113 pounder defeated #2 ranked Brody Ashley 3-1 in TB- 1.  He then defeated D1 #2 and defending state champ Woodbury in the semifinals.  He then majored Golembiewski from Fenton in the finals 10-1 who was having an incredibly day himself.   Congrats Royce on a monumental day!  He is a cornerstone of a freshman class that just might be Hudson's best yet and that is bad news for the rest of the state.

Donovan Quinn had an equally incredible day at the Super 16 at the 120 pound weight class.  The St. Johns Redwing started the day as the 5 seed and was ranked #5 in the state also.  The junior defeated defending state champ Fogel 3-1 and then defending state champ Stewart 1-0 to reach the finals.  Quinn then defeated D1 #5 Gavin Lewis of Oxford 4-1 for the Gold Medal.   Congrats Donovan Quinn for an amazing run to the championship in a fully loaded bracket and co-winning our latest Hammer!
