Brodie Dunbar (Hartland)
Brodie was 13-7 last year as a Freshman and wasn’t able to make it out of districts. This year Brodie exploded onto the scene and finished his sophomore season 44-14 and claimed 6th place in the state at Ford Field. Great job, Brodie. Way to put in the work!

Rasoul Charafeddine (Dearborn Fordson)
Rasoul finished his breakout sophomore campaign with a record of 37-12 and a 7th place finish at state. Last year his record was 23-13 and did not make it out of districts. Charafeddine actually improved a lot during this season. He gave eventual state champ Woodberry all he wanted in districts and regionals.

Benjamin Rickard (White Lake Lakeland)
Rickard had a fantastic year, finishing 35-6. He had a tough draw at regionals and ended up having to face two eventual state placers in Holt and McPherson. Last year, he was 16-12 so he took a massive jump. Congratulations Ben! You have a lot to be proud of.

Eric Miller (Romeo)
Eric took a huge jump his junior season. This year he finished 40-17 and was a state qualifier. Last year as a sophomore, Eric was 10-13. What a massive jump! If he takes another leap like that, look out for Eric as a senior next year. Great job, Eric!

Branden Halsey (Roseville)
Branden is the first of two Roseville wrestlers on this list that had great improvements. Last year Branden was 24-25 on the season and got pinned and teched in districts. This season, Branden was a regional champ and was a match away from the podium. Great job, Branden!

Grier Cameron (Portage Northern)
Grier burst onto the scene in a big way for his Junior year. This year he finished 48-17 and ended it on the podium with an 8th place finish. Last season he was 24-21 and did not make it out of districts. It was an incredibly impressive jump for Grier. He has an opportunity to make another huge jump with his senior year approaching. Great job, Grier!

Melvion Carter (Flint Carman Ainsworth) So.
Melvion had a massive improvement this year. As a freshman he was 7-16. This year he finished 39-7 and was a match away from being a state qualifier. What an incredible turnaround! His future is awfully bright with two years left to compete. Congratulations Melvion on being named Michigan Prep Wrestling’s most improved 144.

Diego Buendia (Lincoln Park)
Last year Diego was 20-17 and lost in districts by a fall and tech fall. This year as a Junior, Diego was 41-17 and was a state qualifier! Great job, Diego!

George Yockey (Temperance Bedford)
George was 5-3 a season ago and didn’t get to wrestle in districts. This year he went 30-17 and was a state qualifier. He was a match away from the podium. George has one more year to make another big jump. Great job, George!

Daniel Kesterson (Roseville)
Kesterson had an amazing turnaround. He went 16-24 last year as a Junior and didn’t even wrestle in districts. This year Daniel finished 44-14 and was a state qualifier! An amazing senior year for this senior hammer. Congratulations, Daniel on being named Michigan Prep Wrestling’s most improved 165.

Cayden Nostrant (Caledonia)
Cayden was 15-7 a year ago and did not make it out of districts. This year Cayden was unbeaten much of the year and finished 39-3! He has another year to take even another jump. Congratulations Cayden, on a fantastic season and being named Michigan Prep Wrestling’s most improved 175.

Teagan Dennett (Byron Center)
Last year as a Junior Teagan had a record of 15-22 and did not make it out of districts. This season Teagan turned it around in a big way. He finished the season 43-11 and on the podium in 8th place. Congratulations Teagan! What an amazing improvement!

Maddox Meyer (Westland John Glenn)
As a freshman last year Maddox and a respectable 29-18 season with an exit in the district round. This year, Maddox exploded to a 54-9 record and a 5th place podium finish at Ford Field! Congratulations, Maddox. We look forward to seeing you dominate in the years to come!

Anthony Nash (Muskegon Mona Shores)
For his sophomore year, Anthony produced a 21-17 record and lost in the district round. He had a big jump for his junior season and qualified for the state meet. He ended up with a 34-13 record after the finals. Great job, Anthony! Way to go out with a bang.
Congrats to all the winners of Michigan Prep Wrestling’s 2nd Annual Most Improved Wrestler Award. You, your families, and your coaches have a lot to be proud of!
