Team Rankings Week 10

                     


Conference tournaments are in the books and all teams are gearing up for districts!  What a great time of year!
 

Division 1



 

1.  Detroit Catholic Central (1) - Defeated Thurston 57-15 and Walled Lake Northern 60-16.  Lost to Ohio power Perrysburg 39-21 in a border war before cruising to victory at the CHSL tourney, well ahead of second place U of D Jesuit. 

 

2.  Brighton (2) - defeated Franklin 75-3 and D1 #7 Westland John Glenn 55-12 in KLAA crossover action.  Placed ahead of D1 #4 Hartland by 25 points to win the KLAA tourney.

 

3.  Davison (3) - Varsity A team out of action this week.

 

4.  Hartland (4) - Defeated Franklin 78-3 and D1 #7 Westland John Glenn 62-13 in KLAA crossover duals and then placed second behind D1 #2 Brighton at the KLAA individuals. 

 

5.  Clarkston (5) - Defeated Bloomfield Hills 40-33 and Oxford B 69-3  in OAA Red action before being edged by D1 #11 Rochester Adams at the OAA Red League tournament action.

 

6.  Temperance Bedford (6) - Beat D4 #9 Clinton 49-25 before dominating the competition at the SEC tourney with a resounding first place finish.

 

7.  Macomb Dakota (7) - Defeated Lutheran North 48-36, Anchor Bay 64-18 and Romeo 38-36.  They clinched the MAC Red with a walk off pin against Romeo.  The Cougars went on to win the MAC Red/White individual tournament well ahead of second place Utica. 

 

8.  Westland John Glenn (8) - It was a tough Wednesday for Glenn as they lost to D2 #4 Hartland 62-13 and D2 #2 Brighton 55-12.  They finished 4th at the KLAA’s behind the two aforementioned schools as well as Howell.

 

9.  Hudsonville (NR) - Beat D1 #10 Grandville 38-26.  Won the OK Red over fellow ranked teams Grandville and Rockford.

 

10.  Grandville (9) -  The Bulldogs lost to D1 #9 Hudsonville 38-26 in OK Red action and came in third in the OK Red Meet behind Rockford and Hudsonville.

 

11.  Rockford (10) - Defeated West Ottawa 56-9 and placed second in the OK Red championships behind Hudsonville by 6.5 points and ahead of #10 Grandville.

 

12.  Rochester Adams (12) - Won the OAA Red League Tournament over stalwarts #5 Clarkston, Lake Orion, Oxford, and Rochester.



 

Division 2

 

1.  Lowell (1) - Won the newly formed dynamite River Cities Alliance by 17.5 points over second place D2 #8  Cedar Springs. In dual action during the week, Lowell made a clear statement to the rest of the league with a 57-9 over second place Cedar Springs.

 

2.  Three Rivers (2) - The Wildcats continue to roll while coasting to victory at the Wolverine Championships outdistancing second place D2 #7 Plainwell.  

 

3.  Freeland (3) - Defeated D2 #9 Greenville 40-25 and then rolled to victory at the TVC championships, over 75 points ahead of D2 #12 Bay City John Glenn.

 

4.  New Boston Huron (4) - The Chiefs rolled to a first place win at the Huron League championship well ahead of 2nd place Carleton Airport.

 

5.  Fowlerville (11) - Had a stellar week, knocking off D2 #6 Mason 37-27 and D3 #8 Portland 44-26. They completed their week winning the CAAC tourney ahead of Grand Ledge and Mason.

 

6.  Mason (5) - Lost to Fowlerville #5 37-27 and D3 #5 Lakewood 44-28.  Then, took 3rd at the CAAC’s behind Fowlerville and Grand Ledge.

 

7.  Plainwell (6) - Took 2nd at the Wolverine Championships behind #2 Three Rivers Wildcats.

 

8.  Cedar Springs (7) - In the Rivers Cities Alliance, Cedar defeated Allendale 43-30, but lost to D2 #1 Lowell 57-9.  Tied for second with D2 #9 Greenville behind Lowell in the RCA conference tournament 

 

9.  Greenville (8) - lost to D2 #3 Freeland 40-25 and tied D2 #8 Cedar Springs for second in the RCA tournament.

 

10.  Wayland (9) - Lost to D3 #4 Allegan Tigers 42-28 before winning the OK Gold Tourney well ahead of second place Middleville TK.

 

11.  Hamilton (10) - Defeated Kelloggsville 84-0 and Unity Christian 75-6 before dominating the competition in the OK Black Conference Tournament.

 

12.  Bay City John Glenn (12) - Took second place to D2 #3 Freeland at the TVC championship.


 

Division 3

 

1.  Dundee (1) - Nationally ranked Dundee continues to dominate their competition. They rolled through the formidable LCAA duals by defeating Blissfield 75-6, Onsted 83-0, D3 #12 Madison 75-0, Hillsdale 75-0, D4 #9 Clinton 73-6, Ida 65-15, and D4 #1 Hudson 48-15.  Just a crazy impressive showing in an incredibly impressive small school league. 

 

2.  Algonac (2) - Won the BWAC edging D3 #3 Yale by 10 points.

 

3.  Yale (3) - Defeated Carman Ainsworth 60-22 and De La Salle 54-19 before falling to D3 #2 Algonac by 10 in the BWAC Tournament.

 

4.  Allegan (4) - Beat D2 #10 Wayland 42-28 on Wednesday and then edged by D4 #4 Martin in the SAC tournament.

 

5.  Lakewood (8) - A very strong week for the Vikings as they defeated perennial powers D2 #6 Mason 44-28 and D3 #8 Portland 46-23.

 

6.  Whitehall (5) - Defeated Manistee 81-0, Orchard View 60-14, and Ludington 76-0.  Took second behind D3 #7 Hart by 14 points in the strangely formatted West Michigan Conference Tournament.

 

7.  Hart (6) - The Pirates beat Ludington 81-0 and Mason County Central 74-6 before winning the West Michigan Conference Tournament.

 

8.  Portland (7) - Dropped two CAAC duals to D3 #5 Lakewood 46-23 and D2 #5 Fowlerville 44-26 before tying Holt for 4th place at the CAAC championship.

 

9.  Constantine (9) - Beat Galesburg Augusta 78-6 before placing 3rd at the SAC Tournament behind D4 #4 Martin and D3 #4 Allegan. 

 

10.   Williamston (10) - Only their B team was in action this week as they placed 8th at the CAAC’s.

 

11.  Montrose (11) - Finished second in the MMAC League Finals behind the D4 #5 LakeVille Falcons.

 

12.  Madison (12) - In the LCAA dual tournament, they defeated Hillsdale 62-12, Ida 54-25, Onsted 67-9, and Blissfield 69-11.  They lost to D3 #9 Clinton 46-27, D3 #1 Dundee 75-0, and D1 #1 Hudson 52-24. 


 

Division 4

 

1.  Hudson (1) - Wrestled at the LCAA duals and placed second (48-15) behind the top team in the state in all classes in Dundee. Won all other duals easily.

 

2.  St. Louis (2) - Defeated Beaverton 78-5 and Meridian 63-12 in Jack Pine action and then won the conference tournament just over 75 points ahead of second place Gladwin.  St. Louis continues to impress.

 

3.  Manchester (3) - Beat East Jackson and Homer with identical scores of 76-0 in Cascades action.  The Cascades has always been a tough wrestling conference with this new and improved version being even better.  The Flying Dutchmen continued to flex their muscle and won over second place D4 #11 Leslie by 41.5 points. 

 

4.  Martin (4) - Beat #12 Gobles 44-17, Lawton 69-12, Fennville 83-0, and South Haven 79-0 SAC dual action.  On Saturday, they edged D3 #4 Allegan by 3 points in the SAC tournament.  Impressive showing indeed. 

 

5.  LakeVille (5) - On Wednesday, they defeated Grand Blanc 48-26.  They easily won the MMAC League Finals, outpacing second place Montrose.

 

6.  Lakeview (6) - Tore through the competition at the CSAA Conference Tournament, outpacing second place Reed City by 54 points.

 

7.  Bronson (8) - Defeated Springport 46-29 and D4 #8 Union City 44-26 and then won the Big 8 with a 2.5 point victory over Union City.  Big week for the Vikings!

 

8.  Union City (7) - Defeated Concord 72-0, but lost to D4 #7 Bronson in Big 8 action 44-26.  Then got edged by 2.5 points for the conference tourney title on Saturday.  One of the closest contested tournaments of the weekend.

 

9.  Clinton (9) - Lost to Bedford 49-25 in weekday action and then competed in the brutal LCAA dual tournament.  Defeated Hillsdale 65-13, Ida 55-18, Blissfield 60-21, Onsted 74-6, and D3 #12 Madison 46-27.  Lost to D4 #1 Hudson 49-20 and D3 #1 Dundee 73-6.

 

10.  Gabriel Riverview Richard (10) - Excellent showing at the CHSL Tournament finishing 3rd behind D1 #1 Detroit Catholic Central and U of D Jesuit.  

 

11.  Leslie (11) - Defeated Hanover Horton 66-12 and Michigan Center 52-27 in Cascades action and then finished second behind D4 #3 Manchester in their inaugural showing in the Cascades Conference Tournament.

 

12.  Gobles (12) - Beat Coloma 54-29, Watervliet 72-9, and South Haven 54-23 while falling to #4 Martin 44-17 in SAC duals.  Finished 7th at SAC Conference.
